HOME >> HELP >> WAXING CURBS

You've been trying to grind, and are getting stuck, right? Now how on earth can you prevent that? Well, YOU NEED TO WAX THE FRIGGIN CURB! It's not very hard and cost is cheap.

First things first. You need to get some wax. I prefer paraffin wax. Its about $1.50 to $2.00, and its about 4x4x8" or something like that. I've heard that you can also use candle wax, crayons, chapstick and soap. Just about anything slipery enough to slide on will work. (If you are going to use candles, melt it in a cup first).

Make sure you have a good sized grinding area (10' sound about right?). Break out the wax and put a nice thick layer of wax on your curb, or stair, or whatever you intend to grind on. Coat the top of it with a goot supply of wax, remember, don't use sparingly, this stuff is cheap. Don't worry about waxing the bottom, it's not going to be getting grinded on. The main idea here is this: you want the wheels and frame to slide on the wax. Make sure that you put enough wax on the curb so that when you rub your finger along the curb, you feel the curb and the wax evenly. Try to get the wax down in the nooks and crannies of the curb so the layer of wax is even. This will help you grind better.

Ok, now you've done some grinding and the wax is starting to wear away. By now you should have done enough grinding that the curb is starting to become smooth. But even the smoothest surfaces need to be waxed again. So, wax up again. One thing, waxing hand rails, STUPID IDEA. But if you insist on trying it, go ahead, but I'm warning you ahead of time. Now go out there and be the grinding fool I know you are!
